Important Information Regarding Boarding

Handling of Fire on Board Except in Smoking Rooms

Smoking outside of designated smoking rooms (including electronic cigarettes) is strictly prohibited. The use of fire on board is prohibited except for tobacco (including electronic cigarettes) in smoking rooms. Smoking outside of designated areas is a dangerous act that can lead to fire accidents. For the safety and order of the voyage, we ask for your understanding and cooperation.
Additionally, if smoking is confirmed in prohibited areas or if cigarette butts or ash are brought in or disposed of in trash bins, we will charge a cleaning fee (deodorization) and a nuisance fee of 20,000 yen (excluding tax), as well as the fare for the guest room and facility usage fee for the period during which the facilities cannot be used.

In all areas excluding smoking rooms, including cabins, public spaces, and parking spaces, the use of matches, lighters, candles, portable stoves, gas canisters, and other fire sources is strictly prohibited.

* Prohibition of Acts That May Endanger Passenger Safety Under Article 23-2 of the Maritime Transport Law
Smoking in prohibited areas on board is prohibited under Article 23-14 of the Enforcement Regulations of the Maritime Transport Law. Violating this regulation may result in a fine of up to 300,000 yen (Article 53 of the same law).

Carrying Fuel Containing Gasoline or Diesel

Carrying fuel cans containing gasoline or diesel and gas canisters on board is not allowed.

Our company prohibits the carrying of hazardous materials that are banned from being brought on board passenger vessels under hazardous materials transport and storage regulations, whether loaded in vehicles or as luggage.

For Customers Bringing Firearms and Swords

Carrying firearms and swords on board is not allowed.

If it is discovered that firearms such as shotguns or air guns are being brought on board, our company may terminate the transport contract based on the transport terms and conditions, so please be aware.

For Customers Bringing Mobile Batteries

Prohibited Items
  • It is prohibited to leave mobile batteries in places away from your immediate control, such as in a car or in a carry bag. Please keep them within reach at all times.
  • Carrying damaged or swollen batteries is prohibited. Batteries that are clearly deemed dangerous cannot be brought on board.
  • Leaving mobile batteries unattended while charging or charging devices like smartphones is prohibited. Please charge them within your sight.
  • Charging while sleeping is prohibited.
Important Notes
  • Avoid charging on bedding that retains heat or inside bags.
  • If the mobile battery feels hotter than usual while charging, please stop charging immediately.
  • If there is abnormal heat or smoke, please contact the crew immediately.

For Customers Boarding with Bicycles (Regarding Luggage and Special Luggage Fees)

Bicycles that, even when folded, have a combined length of more than 2 meters, or bicycles that cannot be folded, will incur special luggage fees.

For Customers Boarding with Passenger Cars

You will need to present your vehicle registration certificate when boarding, so please do not forget to bring it on the day.
However, customers who are ‘F-Net members’ and have registered their vehicle registration are exempt from this requirement.

If the vehicle exceeds the registered length on the vehicle registration certificate due to loading or towing, the shipping fee will be based on the actual measured length.

For Low Ground Clearance Vehicles

If you are boarding with a low ground clearance vehicle, you will need to complete the necessary procedures, so please arrive at least 60 minutes before departure and inform the port staff accordingly. Please note that boarding may be delayed depending on the loading situation.
Regardless of whether the low ground clearance vehicle has a vehicle inspection certificate, there is a risk of the bumper or the underside of the vehicle contacting during boarding or inside the ship. In such cases, our company will not be responsible for any vehicle damage, so please understand.
Additionally, if our facilities suffer damage due to oil leaks, we may charge for repair costs, so please be aware.

* In cases of extremely low ground clearance, our company may refuse boarding at its discretion.

Request to Drivers

For safety, please adhere to the following items.

  1. (1) After boarding, please turn off the engine switch and engage the handbrake.
  2. (2) Please do not remain on the vehicle deck unless in special circumstances. Unauthorized access to the vehicle deck during the voyage is prohibited.
  3. (3) Please follow the crew’s instructions when driving inside the vehicle.
  4. (4) Smoking is prohibited on the vehicle deck.
  5. (5) Please wait until the ship has completely docked and the crew gives instructions before starting the vehicle engine.
  6. (6) For safety of life, cargo, and vessels, hazardous materials will be taken by staff during the voyage.

For Customers Boarding with Electric Vehicles

About Using Electric Vehicle Charging Facilities [Installed on: Izumi, Hibiki, Settsu, Yamato]
  • When using electric vehicle charging facilities, please make a reservation by phone or online (check the box for charging plug usage) as there are limited spaces available.
  • Please complete the procedures at the boarding port counter at least one hour in advance.
  • The outlet shape is only 200V.
    * The 100V type cannot be used.
  • Please be sure to bring your charging cable.
  • The charging method is standard charging only.

* The electric vehicle charging facilities are installed in the 5th-floor parking lot for passenger cars, so vehicles with high ground clearance (height limit 2.1m) and low ground clearance vehicles may not be able to use them, so please be aware.

For Customers Boarding with Hydrogen Vehicles

For vehicles using hydrogen as fuel, due to the high-pressure hydrogen used, sufficient safety checks are required, and therefore we have the following restrictions on handling.

  1. Vehicles That Cannot Board
    – Unmanned vehicles (product vehicles, passenger cars, cargo)
    – Manned vehicles (passenger cars, cargo) with temporary license plates
  2. Target Vehicles and Examples
    Target Vehicles = All vehicles that operate using hydrogen as an energy source
    Examples of Target Vehicles = Toyota ‘MIRAI’, Honda ‘CR-V e:FCEV’, Hyundai ‘NEXO’
    Toyota ‘Coaster’, Hydrogen Microbus, etc.
  3. Conditionally Bookable Vehicles (Prior Notification Required)
    Vehicles that have registered license plates and are within the valid period of the vehicle inspection certificate.

  5. Notes
    – If you make a reservation by phone without prior notification and it is discovered at the boarding port that you have a hydrogen vehicle, you will not be allowed to board.
    – If you make an online reservation and do not provide prior notification by phone, and it is discovered at the boarding port that you have a hydrogen vehicle, you will not be allowed to board.
    – If you do not arrive at least 90 minutes before the departure time, you will not be allowed to board.

About the Open Door to the Vehicle Parking Lot

The door to the vehicle parking lot will be opened after docking, as instructed by the captain.
For safety reasons, disembarking cannot be done immediately, so we appreciate your understanding and cooperation.

For Customers Needing Assistance

Our staff and crew cannot assist with meals, restrooms, or bathing, so customers needing assistance are requested to be accompanied by someone.
Additionally, we cannot provide constant assistance to specific customers, so please understand. The following customers must contact the reservation center in advance.

  • Customers using a wheelchair traveling alone (those wishing for assistance with boarding and disembarking).
  • Customers using a stretcher.
  • Customers using oxygen tanks or other medical devices. * You will need to sign a waiver to board.
  • Customers with other medical conditions. (Please be sure to carry necessary medications.) * You may be required to submit a medical certificate or proof.

* Our ferry routes involve long voyages, and unexpected situations may arise. Since there are no doctors or nurses on board, even if a reservation is accepted, the captain may refuse boarding if it is determined that your safety cannot be ensured due to weather or sea conditions, so please understand in advance.

For Customers with Illnesses or Injuries

* If you fall under any of the following categories, please submit a medical certificate.

  • Individuals whose lives are at risk or whose health may be significantly compromised due to age, health, or other reasons

For Customers Traveling with Service Animals

Customers with visual, auditory, or physical disabilities wishing to travel with guide dogs, hearing dogs, or assistance dogs can bring them on board for free.

* When boarding, please inform the staff that you are traveling with a service animal. We will check the harness (white or yellow guide dog harness) or the identification for assistance dogs or hearing dogs.

For Customers with Hearing Impairments

In case of emergency, staff will bring keys, notepads, pens, and evacuation guidance plates to your room to assist with evacuation using the keys they brought.

For Pregnant Customers

Please be sure to inform us when making your reservation.
Our ferry routes involve long voyages, and unexpected situations may arise. Additionally, there are no doctors or nurses on board, so for safety reasons, we cannot allow customers who are 8 months pregnant (28 weeks) to board.
Please be aware that even if a reservation is accepted, the captain may refuse boarding if it is determined that your safety cannot be ensured due to weather or sea conditions.

* A maternal and child health handbook must be presented during the boarding process.

For Customers Using the Ladies’ Room

Please be sure to make a reservation if you wish to use it. (If making an online reservation, please enter the number of passengers in the ladies’ room in the reservation input form.) Additionally, this room is exclusively for female customers, so if you are bringing children, boys in elementary school are not allowed. We ask for the understanding and cooperation of male customers aged elementary school and above.
Please note that the equipped cabin types may differ depending on the vessel used, so please check before use.

About Using the Observation Bath

  • Customers who are extremely intoxicated are strictly prohibited from bathing.
    Additionally, customers with tattoos or body art are requested to be considerate of other customers while using the facilities.
  • Individuals of elementary school age and above of the opposite sex cannot bathe together.
  • Cameras, mobile phones, and smartphones are strictly prohibited in the bathing area and changing rooms.

For Customers Traveling with Pets

Pets are not allowed in areas other than pet rooms and with pet rooms. If a pet is brought into areas other than pet rooms or with pet rooms, cleaning fees and bedding exchange costs will be charged. Additionally, the vehicle parking space can become very hot. Please do not leave pets in the car and be sure to use the pet room. Also, please check the pet cage size and usage fees.
Customers without cages are requested to use collars, muzzles, and leashes when boarding and disembarking. After disembarking, please keep the leash firmly in hand and do not let go.

Management (food, drink, etc.) should be done by the customer. Cleaning during boarding and disembarking and disposal of waste must be done by the customer. Additionally, pet rooms will be locked from lights out until the morning when the information desk opens, so customers wishing to care for their pets should check the operating hours of the information desk on each ship. There is no temperature control in the pet room (set to the same temperature as the cabins).

Dogs, cats, rabbits, hamsters, and small birds can be accommodated.

However, the following pets are prohibited from boarding and using pet rooms.

  • Special pets (skunks, monkeys, tropical fish, reptiles, etc.)
  • Dogs that have not received heartworm prevention and vaccinations (rabies, combination vaccine) within the last year
  • Specific dog breeds [Tosa, Akita, Kishu, German Shepherd, Great Dane, Doberman, St. Bernard, Alaskan Malamute, Mastiff, American Staffordshire (American Pit Bull Terrier)]
  • Pets that bark excessively or disturb other customers and do not follow the owner’s instructions
  • Pets that do not fit in our pet cages
  • Pets in heat or pregnant
  • Pets with infectious diseases or poor health

* Customers who do not make internet reservations will be required to sign a waiver after acknowledging the notes.
(Customers who make internet reservations are considered to have agreed to the ‘Terms of Use Regarding Pet Boarding’ by checking the pet cage and With Pet usage regulations.)

Tomorrow, the vehicle parking lot door will open after docking, so the passage to the 5th-floor vehicle parking lot will be very crowded. Customers should clean the pet room cage themselves and either place the pet in the cage or wait in the 5th-floor lobby with collars, muzzles, and leashes. Additionally, please return the keys to the information desk or to a nearby staff member. Please be aware that during busy times, you may be among the last to disembark.
