Fundamental Philosophy

Hankyu Ferry recognizes that environmental issues are a significant challenge shared by humanity, and is committed to marine and global environmental conservation,
promoting the reduction of environmental impact and striving to contribute to society through our business activities.

  • Recognizing that maritime accidents can have severe negative impacts on the environment, we will ensure the safe operation of our vessels.
  • We will enhance employees’ awareness of environmental conservation through environmental education and internal communications.
  • To reduce the environmental impact associated with our business activities, we will strive for resource conservation, energy saving, and waste reduction.
  • We will set necessary goals for environmental conservation, regularly review them, and work towards continuous improvement.

What is Green Management Certification?

The “Green Management Certification” is an environmental conservation standard promoted by the “Traffic Ecology and Mobility Foundation,” established with the cooperation of the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism and funded by the Nippon Foundation.

It certifies and registers businesses that are implementing initiatives above a certain level based on the Green Management Promotion Manual, which includes promoting proper waste management and recycling.

Hankyu Ferry Co., Ltd. received this certification on May 30, 2007. We will continue to promote environmentally friendly management through efforts such as reducing fuel consumption.

We were recognized for our contribution to environmental conservation by being the first domestic ferry to introduce a dual hybrid propulsion system with excellent environmental and energy-saving performance on the new vessels “Izumi” and “Hibiki,” thereby working to limit carbon dioxide emissions.

We were recognized for actively promoting the introduction of barrier-free compatible vessels to improve mobility convenience for elderly and disabled passengers in the management of regular passenger ferry services.
