Bringing Mobile Batteries Onboard

There have been numerous reports of fire incidents caused by mobile batteries (lithium-ion batteries) igniting in aircraft and trains,

To ensure safe operations on our ferries, we will strictly enforce the following guidelines. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation.

Prohibitions

① It is prohibited to leave them “in the car.” Please keep them with you at all times.
② It is prohibited to leave them “in a carry bag” or any place away from your immediate reach. Please keep them with you.
③ It is prohibited to bring in batteries that are damaged or swollen. Batteries that are clearly deemed dangerous are not allowed.
④ It is prohibited to leave mobile batteries charging or to charge devices like smartphones with them unattended. Please charge them within your sight.
⑤ Charging while sleeping is prohibited.

Important Notes

① Please avoid charging on bedding that retains heat or inside bags.
② If the mobile battery feels hotter than usual while charging, please stop charging immediately.
③ If you notice unusual heat or smoke, please contact the crew immediately.
